From Heathrow Airport
Traveling from Heathrow, you have two main options: the Airbus or the Heathrow Express train. The Airbus is less expensive and will drop you off closest to the IES flats, while the Heathrow Express is faster and more expensive.

If you choose to take the red, double-decker Airbus:
You can catch the Airbus outside each terminal at Heathrow. The Airbus runs every 30 minutes from Heathrow and takes about one hour to make the trip to the Center of London, depending on traffic. Follow the signs for the Airbus or proceed to an information desk for directions to the precise bus stop. The cost is £7 one-way, £10 round trip - ask for a student discount. You can buy the ticket directly from the driver. Take the bus to Russell Square, from where you can take a black taxi-cab for £4-5 to your flats - simply hail one as they drive by. Upon arrival at the flats, you will be met by an RA. Sometimes taxi drivers are not be familiar with Crawford Passage, tell them you live off Clerkenwell Road and Farringdon Road behind the Guardian Newspaper building. Even better, bring the above map.

If you choose to take the Heathrow Express train:
Follow the signs in the airport for the Heathrow Express or proceed to an information desk for directions. If you purchase your ticket before you board, it will cost £12 one-way, £22 return. If you wait to purchase your ticket from the conductor on the train, you will have to pay a £2 surcharge. Leaving every 15 minutes, the train takes 15 minutes from Terminals 1, 2 and 3 to Paddington Station in downtown London - add on an additional 5 minutes for Terminal 4. For more details, visit the website. From Paddington, you can take a black taxi cab for £10-15 to the IES flats. Upon arrival at the flats, you will be met by an RA.

From Gatwick Airport
Students arriving at Gatwick are advised to take the Gatwick Express to London Victoria Station £10 single trip. From Victoria Station, you can take a taxicab to the flats for approximately £10.

Taking a Taxi
In the past, students have shared the cost of taking a taxi from either airport to the flats. Depending on the number of people, bags and traffic, a taxi will cost from £45-75. Make sure that you have enough cash on you to cover the ride.
